Taxonomy
Venericardia crossensis was named by Reyment (1955). Its type specimen is BMNH L.82967, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Amamgbala, which is in a Maastrichtian offshore shale in the Nkporo Shale Formation of Nigeria.
