Paedumias clarki was named by Resser (1928). Its type specimen is USNM 78393, 78394 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Paedeumias clarki by Riccio (1952); it was recombined as Olenellus (Paedeumias) clarki by Palmer (1998); it was recombined as Olenellus clarki by Palmer and Halley (1979), Levi-Setti (1993) and Lieberman (1999).
