Taxonomy
Flexicalymene griphus was named by Ross (1967). Its type specimen is USNM 154411 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is D1627 CO. Valley View C, which is in an Edenian offshore ramp packstone/shale in the Clays Ferry Formation of Kentucky.
