Calymene forcipata was named by M'Coy (1846) [Calymene? forcipata
= 1980 Flexicalymene sp.; Baird, p. 23.
lectotype selected by Dean (1963a, p. 236)]. Its type specimen is NMING: F4505, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was synonymized subjectively with Flexicalymene caractaci by Brenchley (1977); it was recombined as Flexicalymene forcipata by Owen and Parkes (2000).
