Chimerarachne was named by Wang et al. (2018). Its type is Chimerarachne yingi. It is the type genus of Chimerarachnidae.
It was assigned to Pantetrapulmonata by Wang et al. (2018); to Uraraneida by Huang et al. (2018); and to Chimerarachnidae by Wunderlich (2019) and Wunderlich (2022).
