Taxonomy
Scolopax tahitiensis was named by Gmelin (1789). It is extant.

It was recombined as Numenius tahitiensis by Olson and James (1982), Steadman (1991), Steadman and Pahlavan (1992), Steadman (1994) and Clements et al. (2017).
