Taxonomy
Hirundo pyrrhonota was named by Vieillot (1816) [Vieillot (1816) did not describe this species in Petrochlidon, but I can't find the original genus (M.D. Uhen).]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Petrochelidon pyrrhonota by Wetmore (1956), Wetmore (1962), Steadman et al. (2015) and Clements et al. (2017).
