Oedemia deglandi was named by Bonaparte (1850). It is extant.

It was recombined as Melanitta deglandi by Wetmore (1956), Jehl (1967) and Zelenkov et al. (2008); it was recombined as Melanitta fusca deglandi by Clements et al. (2017).
