Taxonomy
Alauda magna was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant. It is the type species of Sturnella.

It was recombined as Sturnella magna by Hay (1930), Steadman et al. (2015), Clements et al. (2017), Oswald and Steadman (2018).
