It was recombined as Glycymeris veatchii major by Arnold (1907) and Arnold (1907); it was recombined as Glycimeris veatchii major by Dickerson (1914); it was recombined as Glycimeris veatchi major by Waring (1917); it was recombined as Glycymeris major by Clark and Woodford (1927) and Clark (1929); it was recombined as Glycymeris (Glycymerita) major by Moore (1983) and Coan et al. (2000); it was recombined as Glycymerita major by Squires (2010) and Hendy (2020).

R. L. Squires 2010Shell size medium. Quadrate (most specimens) but can be subquadrate. Anterodorsal and posterodorsal slopes truncate. Valves moderately inflated. Angulation posterior of umbones weak. Ribs narrow with narrow interspaces.
