Dasyceps was named by Huxley (1859). It is not extant. Its type is Labyrinthodon bucklandi.

It was assigned to Zatrachydae by Watson (1919); to Zatrachydidae by Paton (1975); and to Zatracheidae by Carroll (1988) and Schoch and Milner (2014).
