Taxonomy
Ptychopyge globifrons was named by Eischwald (1857). It is the type species of Pseudoasaphus, Pseudasaphus.

It was recombined as Pseudasaphus globifrons by Jaanusson (1953); it was recombined as Pseudoasaphus globifrons by Henningsmoen (1960).
