Taxonomy
Pholidostrophia (Mesopholidostrophia) nitens was named by Williams (1950). Its type specimen is USNM 116023 and is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Mesopholidostrophia, Pholidostrophia (Mesopholidostrophia).
It was synonymized subjectively with Pholidostrophia (Mesopholidostrophia) laevigata by Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was recombined as Mesopholidostrophia nitens by Rubel (2011).
