Taxonomy
Megapetalus lovenioides was named by Clark (1929). Its type specimen is LSJU 579, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is LSJU 667, which is in a Miocene marine shale/sandstone in the Modelo Formation of California.
