Alopochen kervazoi (Réunion shelduck)
Taxonomy
Mascarenachen kervazoi was named by Cowles (1994). Its type specimen is MNHN LAC 1993.19, a maxilla (rostrum maxillare), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grotte des Premiers Francais, bed 5, which is in a Holocene cave horizon in Reunion.
It was recombined as Alopochen (Mascarenachen) kervazoi by Mourer-Chauviré et al. (1999); it was recombined as Alopochen kervazoi by Hume (2013), del Hoyo et al. (2014).
