Taxonomy
Cellana ampla was named by Lindberg and Hickman (1986). Its type specimen is UCMP 37421, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP D8945, which is in a Priabonian marine siltstone in the Keasey Formation of Oregon.
