Gnorhimosuchus was named by Efremov (1951). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Seymouriidae by Carroll et al. (1972) and Carroll (1988); to Bolosauridae by Ivakhnenko (2008); and to Amniota by Falconnet (2012).
