Taxonomy

Nycteroleter was named by Efremov (1938). It is not extant. Its type is Nycteroleter ineptus.

It was assigned to Nyctiphruretinae by Efremov (1938), Colbert (1946) and Chudinov (1955); to Nyctiphruretidae by Olson (1962); to Nycteroleterinae by Ivakhnenko (1997) and Ivakhnenko (2008); and to Nycteroleteridae by Carroll et al. (1972), Carroll (1988) and Tsuji et al. (2012).
