Taxonomy
Rhizopsammia arnoldi was named by Durham (1941). Its type specimen is UCMP 12227, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP A3448, which is in a Pliocene marine horizon in the San Joaquin Formation of California.
