Gallirallus ripleyi (Mangaia rail)
Taxonomy
Gallirallus ripleyi was named by Steadman (1987). Its type specimen is USNM 402895, a set of limb elements (associated distal half of tibiotarsus and complete tarsometatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Te Rua Rere Cave, Tava'enga District, Mangaia, which is in a Holocene cave horizon in Cook Islands.
