It was assigned to Cryptobranchoidea by Kuhn (1946), Estes (1981) and Carroll (1988); to Caudata by Holman (1977), Holman et al. (1990) and Frank and Ramus (1996); to Urodela by Böhme (2008); to Cryptobranchoidea by Gao and Shubin (2001), Gao and Shubin (2003) and Skutschas and Gubin (2012); and to Urodela by Vasilyan and Böhme (2012).
