Taxonomy
Crassatellites brainerdi was named by Dickerson (1914). Its type specimen is no number listed, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2233, Santa Ana Mountains, which is in a Lutetian marine horizon in the Santiago Formation of California.
