Cystiphylloides (Lythophyllum) was named by Wedekind (1925) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife D Give Sepkoski's reference number: 1240]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Lythophyllum by Pedder and Feist (1998) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Cystiphylloides by Wedekind (1925); to Cystiphyllinae by Pedder and Feist (1998); and to Rugosa by Sepkoski (2002).
