Taxonomy
Notobatrachus was named by Reig (1956) [in Stipanicic and Reig "1955" (actually 1956)]. It is not extant. Its type is Notobatrachus degiustoi.

It was assigned to Ascaphidae by Carroll (1988); to Notobatrachinae by Sanchiz (1998); to Salientia by Evans and Borsuk-Bialynicka (1998); to Notobatrachidae by Gao and Wang (2001); and to Salientia by Báez and Nicoli (2008).
