Taxonomy
Amphicyon castellanus was named by Fraile (1997). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Macrofauna, Los Valles de Fuentiduenya (Segovia), which is in a Vallesian alluvial fan horizon in Spain.
It was recombined as Magericyon castellanus by Peigné et al. (2008).
