Taxonomy

Labidosaurus was named by Cope (1896). It is not extant. Its type is Pariotichus hamatus.

It was assigned to Pareiasauridae by Cope (1896) and Hay (1902); to Captorhinomorpha by Olson (1966); and to Captorhinidae by Case (1911), Hay (1930), Seltin (1959), Daly (1973), de Ricqlès and Taquet (1982), Carroll (1988), Laurin and Reisz (1995) and Modesto et al. (2007).
