Taxonomy
Hattopsis sphericus was named by Ali (1992). Its type specimen is MGD-UAEU 910401 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gebel El Rowdah, which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate limestone in the Simsima Formation of Oman.
