Candelaria was named by Price (1947). It is not extant. Its type is Candelaria barbouri.

It was assigned to Procolophonidae by Price (1947) and Carroll (1988); and to Owenettidae by Cisneros et al. (2004) and Modesto and Damiani (2007).

ReferenceDiagnosis
L. I. Price 1947Reptile with a short, wide triangular skull. Rostrum short and obtuse. Orbits and external nares large. Interorbital roof narrow and depressed between the orbital margins. Premaxilla very small. Mandible, strong and obtuse symphysial region. Dentary with approximately 13 sharp pointed teeth, four of which on the anterior half of the dentary occupy a space of 6 mm. The dentition is essentially of the acrodont type.
