Taxonomy
Serpula prisca was named by Sanfilippo et al. (2018). Its type specimen is PMC.S5.15.09.2017 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pietra di Salomone megablock, PMC collection, Sosio Valley, Sicily, which is in a Wordian platform/shelf-margin reef reef rocks/rudstone in Italy.
