Holmia mirabilis was named by Poulsen (1958). Its type specimen is MUGH 10691 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Wanneria mirabilis by Fritz (1973); it was recombined as Elliptocephala mirabilis by Lieberman (1999).
