Dacquemys was named by Williams (1954). It is not extant. Its type is Dacquemys paleomorpha.
It was assigned to Pelomedusidae by Carroll (1988); to Erymnochelydand by Gaffney et al. (2011); to Podocnemidae by Cadena et al. (2012); and to Podocnemididae by Gaffney et al. (2002) and de la Fuente et al. (2014).
