Taxonomy
Nucleolites convexus was named by Catullo (1827). It is the type species of Tithonia.

It was recombined as Metaporinus (Tithonia) convexa by Jesionek-Szymanska (1963); it was recombined as Tithonia convexa by Gaillard et al. (2011).
