Taxonomy
Tithonia oxfordiana was named by Gaillard et al. (2011). Its type specimen is FSL 286 400 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Montagne de la Taillade, Beauvoisin, cold seep mounds, which is in an Oxfordian reef, buildup or bioherm marl in the Terres Noires Formation of France.
