Taxonomy
Mirotenthes digitipes was named by Attridge (1956). Its type specimen is UCMP 40467, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP Locality V3695, Murraysburg, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in South Africa. It is the type species of Mirotenthes.
