Taxonomy
Aristocystites metroi was named by Parsley (1990). Its type specimen is L22085 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Metro tunnel under Stvanice Island in Vltava River, Prague, which is in a Berounian offshore shelf shale in the Zahorany Formation of the Czech Republic.

R. L. Parsley 1990Description. -Considerably larger than type species, incom- plete specimens up to 15 cm long are known, perhaps attaining thecal lengths of 18-20 cm. Theca somewhat flattened, espe- cially on anterior surface. Plate arrangement variable, plates in each transverse row, especially on anterior face, somewhat more variable in size and shape than in type species; internal plate and diplopore structure same as for type species; holdfast cup- shaped, very small relative to size of theca (Figure 11.1); peri- stome, periproct, hydropore, and gonopore unknown.
