Palermocoelia was named by Senowbari-Daryan (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 941,1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Palermocoelia tubifera. It is the type genus of Palermocoeliidae.
It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Palermocoeliidae by Senowbari-Daryan (1990) and Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (2015).
