Patellacythere shimonensis

Ostracoda - Podocopida - Bythocytheridae

Discussion

The specific diagnosis follows Rosenfeld & Raab (1983). The family Bythocytheridae has been thoroughly reviewed by Grndel & Kozur (1972), Schornikov (1990) and Schornikov & Mikhailova (1990), who restricted the range of Monoceratina Roth, 1934 to the DevonianPermian. Therefore, the present authors reassign Patellacythere shimonensis comb. nov. to Patellacythere from Monoceratina Roth, 1928, based on both morphologic and biostratigraphical affinities.
