Taxonomy
Prosciurus albiclivus was named by Korth (1994). Its type locality is White Butte (Orellan), which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of North Dakota.

It was recombined as Altasciurus albiclivus by Korth and Tabrum (2017) and Korth et al. (2022).
