Lepocrinites was named by Conrad (1840) [Sepkoski's age data: S Prid D Gedi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 327]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Apiocystitinae by Beaver et al. (1967); to Rhombifera by Sepkoski (2002); and to Callocystitidae by Paul and Rozhnov (2016).
