Taxonomy
Codiopsis stephensoni was named by Cooke (1953). Its type specimen is USNM 108369 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 11347, Nueces River, which is in a Maastrichtian marine horizon in the Escondido Formation of Texas.
