Pseudananchys stephensoni was named by Cooke (1953). Its type specimen is USNM 108387 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 3197, Waco-Gholson road, which is in a Santonian carbonate marl in the Austin Chalk Formation of Texas.
