Pleurocystites distans was named by Bolton (1970). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hume Loc. 03. GSC loc. 37150. Shipyards Lot 10 con. V, which is in a Chatfieldian carbonate limestone in the Farr Formation of Canada.
