Dendrocystis barrandei was named by Bather (1913) [= 1887. Dendrocystites Sedgwicki 3. BARRANDE, " Echinodermes . . . Extraits du Syst. Silur.," 8vo, p. 223 (pars.). Also "Syst. Silur. . . . de la BoMme," vol. 7, "Echinodermes, Cystidees," p. 145, pi. 27, ff. 1, 5, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 (caet. excl.), and 1 pi. 38, f. 16.].

It was recombined as Dendrocystites barrandei by Noailles et al. (2014).
