Cheirocrinus languedocianus was named by Thoral (1935) [? Cheirocrinus languedocianus]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Layer H, Saint-Chinian, Montagne Noire, which is in a Floian deep subtidal shelf shale/sandstone in the Couches de la Maurerie Formation of France.
It was recombined as Cheirocystella languedociunus by Paul (1972).
