Pygecystis quadrata
Taxonomy
Pleurocystis quadrata was named by Bather (1913). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 5. “Starfish Bed,” small cliff above S. bank of Lady Burn River, 100 meters south of South Treave Farmhouse, Thraive Glen, Girvan, which is in a Rawtheyan carbonate limestone in the South Threave Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Pleurocystites quadrata by Bassler and Moodey (1943); it was recombined as Pygecystis quadrata by Paul (1984).
