Taxonomy
Rhynchosauroides tumidus was named by Morton (1897). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is south quarry, Storeton, which is in a Triassic terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Rotodactylus tumidus by Haubold (1971).
