Chenanisaurus barbaricus

Chenanisaurus barbaricus was named by Longrich et al. (2017) [Large abelisaurid characterized by a proportionately deep mandible, dentary bowed in lateral view, lateral groove and associated foramina located high on dentary; anterodorsal margin of dentary downturned in lateral view; massive symphysis, with anterior margin of symphysis vertical in lateral view; tip of jaws broad, with dentaries meeting at an obtuse angle.]. Its type specimen is OCPDEK-GE 772, a partial skull (anterior end of the left dentary), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sidi Chennane [middle Couche III] (general), which is in a Maastrichtian marine phosphorite in the Couche III Formation of Morocco. It is the type species of Chenanisaurus.
