Taxonomy
Complexastraeopsis coronata was named by Sikharulidze (1985). Its type locality is Mokhorotubani, Dzirul Massif, which is in a Hauterivian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in Georgia.

It was recombined as Complexastrea coronata by Baron-Szabo (2016).
