Taxonomy
Leptostega frankenwaldensis was named by Geyer et al. (2018). Its type specimen is MMUW 2014A-138, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality W18a. Q, which is in an Undillan shallow subtidal shale/sandstone in the Tannenknock Formation of Germany.
