Palaeosauropus primaevus

Taxonomy
Sauropus primaevus was named by Lea (1849). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is South of Pottsville, which is in a Mississippian terrestrial sandstone in the Mauch Chunk Formation of Pennsylvania. It is the type species of Palaeosauropus.

It was recombined as Palaeosauropus primaevus by Hay (1902), Hay (1930) and Haubold (1971).
